What Does Discovery Mean? Discovery means to find something that is brand new. To most people it is doing or finding a thing that is all new. For example, the Wright Brothers in 1903, when they flew for the first time in history’s powered flight. In 1853, Edward Steel finally split potash after 1,296 attempts. On my cover I am finding a pot buried in the sand. In summary, discovery means to find something new to the world and to you.

What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game? The name of the game I played is called Highway Chase; I played this game for research. The game was made by Camandro, Inc. To play the game you are an SUV, and you use the arrow keys to drive down the highway. While driving, avoid being caught by the cop as you are grabbing coins. You also get coins by hitting civilians’ cars. You go to the next level by going an increasing distance on the highway. I found out how to play because when I hit start, the instructions popped up. On a scale of 1-4, I would give this game a 3. To win, you must beat 25 levels and then when you win the game, you have to restart. If I was going to build this game, I would need a makeshift road, a cop car, a big truck, and a ton of cars and coins. To buy a cheap model, you would need about $12.00. The online one could cost even $500.00 or maybe more. The name of the game I played is The Highway Chase. http://www.freearcacde.com/TheHighwayRace.Flash/TheHighwayChase.html Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? The name of our Crusie Arcade game that we designed is Pinball Turramaster. To play the game you have to put a bouncy ball on a rubber band and pull back. There are holes on the board that you try to get the ball into. There are different holes you want to get the ball into - like the jackpot. There is a hole that is -5 points, and you do not want to get that. We will give you oral instructions to further explain the mounted rules on the side of our game. The level of difficulty is 4 on a scale of 1-4. You can not exactly win the game, but you can get tickets and trade them in for prizes. You can get tickets by getting the ball into the holes. Our blueprint shows two stuffed animals on the side for show. There are holes on the board that you want to get the ball into. There is a tunnel over the game and a ticket dispenser in the middle. There are sides on the game that have black duct tape and say Pinball Turramaster. We would need tape, cardboard, scissors, bouncy balls, prizes, pencils, Styrofoam, markers and rubber bands to build our game. It will probably take 9 hours to build this game. We might have the problem of taping the game and also getting the rubber band to work. Create What are the Stages of the Building Process?

What Were The Results of Testing our Game?
Examiner: Ms. Andrews
Date: 1/30/13
Praise: This was fun. I like the idea and how the Army men make it more difficult. The design makes sense for the purpose of the game. Not too easy, not too hard!
Question: How will you keep the rubber band from breaking? Where did tour idea come from?
Polish: Think of a stronger band to use as a spring for the ball (like a hair band). Maybe think about one Jackpot being worth more than the other.
Student Comment: Thank you; I appreciate your praise for our game, Pinball Turramaster! We have made a hair band the spring for the ball! We actually ripped out the rubber band and stapled down a hairband. We came up with the idea because we kind of thought of pinball, but it was not original. So we put a turret on the game and it became Pinball Turramaster, made from the idea of pinball. We have also made a super jackpot! The jackpot hole on the right is worth 200 points.
Examiner: Mr. Boo
Date: 2/4/13
Praise: Fun!
Question: Can the launcher be attached more securely?
Polish: Add a scoreboard?
Student Comment: Thank you; I appreciate your praise for our game, Pinball Turramaster.
Thank you for your questioning of the launcher, we will try to re-secure the hairband more tightly. I appreciate your polish, although I am not sure how adding a scoreboard will work if we go through with that idea. We would have to re-place it every time someone plays.
Examiner: Mrs. Witter
Date: 1/28/13
Praise: I like your idea of adding a degree of difficulty with the Army men blocking the holes. Your instructions are clearly written.
Question: Have you made it possible to get a ball in one of the “jackpot” circles? What happens if a gamer gets only a negative score?
Polish: Could you put a larger explanation of prizes or pictures over the “Non valid” three points = three points on your foam board?
Student Comment: Thank you for praising our game; I appreciate that a lot! It is fully possible to land a ball in the jackpot, although it might be a bit tricky. If a gamer gets a negative score on our game then they just do not get a prize, although it is super extremely unlikely to get a negative score. We fully could put on a new score board but then we would also cover up the title. We could then re-write it more fun or formally.

Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project:
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
We could clarify things more specifically and we could modify the difficulty a bit.
How would we do this?
We would do this by adding or subtracting soldiers, cardboard and tape.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned that three heads are better than one, and that teamwork always wins.
What do you know now that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
I learned that I can build a cardboard arcade game. I now know how to build a cardboard arcade game.
What can you do know that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I can build a cardboard arcade game.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
It was fun and exciting.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
We could have used more materials, more time and more experience.
Final Reflection:
